What is IDN Space+Work?

IDN Space+Work is a Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM) software developed for small and medium-sized organizationsThe cloud-based application software is provided as a service (SaaS) with an affordable annual subscription.  It is built on the IDN platform which is designed to integrate with existing commercial off-the-shelf applications and is scalable with unlimited usersIDN Space+Work is not an Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) rather, it is a user-friendly space accounting system with facility maintenance work tools included.  We like to say that this is the new CAFM: Compatible, Affordable, Friendly & Mobile.

Many smaller organizations have no need for a complex IWMS, and can't afford the associated costs with implementing and maintaining one.  IDN recognized that small facilities need managing too, and that all facilities have space at their core.  These spaces support the organization's mission, people and equipment.  It is critical that the spaces are represented accurately in terms of their physical size, current use, current occupants, ownership, floor finishes and more.  Regular space surveys are necessary to keep the space accounting up to date.  Using a mobile device, a space manager walks the facility, updating details, and attaching photographs as necessary.  3D views of spaces can be captured using Matterport, to provide additional building information modeling (BIM).

Every facility has building systems and equipment that require regular servicing.  IDN Space+Work has tools for both planned and demand maintenance.  Any user can submit a service request and monitor the status of the work order.  A person in a supervisor role approves and assigns the work to trades or outside contractors.  Personnel and equipment moves can be planned and executed.  Optional features include room reservations, visitor management and wayfinding, all from any Internet-connected mobile device. 

Importantly, you can use any CAD software to manage polylines (AutoCAD LT, Draftsight, etc).  There are no additional "plug-ins" required.  There isn't a separate mobile app or UX interface to the system.   The platform recognizes your device and adjusts the display accordingly.

30+ Years of CAFM Expertise

Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM) was born in the late 1980's out of an integration between AutoCAD, a Relational Database Management System and a Reporting engine, to help account for space occupancy in a new and meaningful way.  Facilities management tools became visual, relatable, and an industry was launched. We were there!  Soon there would be other solutions, some with differing CAD tools and eventually integrating with other corporate systems, such as HR,  lease accounting, purchasing, service contracts, fleet management and much more.  These Integrated Workplace Management Systems (IWMS), as they became known, are the most complex and highly configurable tools available and have been deployed widely around the world.  We have 'been there' too!  IDN has experts that have been certified over the years in Archibus, IBM TRIRIGA and iOffice.


Founded in the depths of the 2008 meltdown, IDN wanted to be a different kind of software company, one that cared about the people who develop the code, not the shareholders, one that worked hard to solve real customer problems, not pursue an endless cycle of upgrades with unnecessary disruption and costs.
